A TRUE USA STANDARD RESORT IN MUNNAR

Review - Panoramic Getaway - Munnar Bypass, Chithirapuram, Munnar 685565 India

It has been about 2 weeks since I returned back from India and 4 weeks since I checked out of the Munnar Panoramic Retreat Resort. Still the memory of that place haunts me to want to go back and soak myself in the beauty of that truly panoramic mountainous scenery. Having spend some real good money for my mountain side view rooms, it was well worth the cost and it was the first time in India that I experienced a hotel that came up to the standard of a USA 5 star rated hotel. 😎

By this I mean that everything was prim and proper, very presentable and in good working order. The décor was high class and exquisite with chandeliers and spacious sitting areas, and 2 restaurants, 2 heated swimming pools, and an Ayurvedic massage center. Enough wash rooms and a gift shop in the lobby. We were even pampered with a small drink as we arrived while getting checked in.

One can just sit down in any place and look out the glass windows to enjoy the view of the mountains. You are in the mountains and dont need to go anywhere to enjoy them. Although there are many offers for Tourist specific attractions, we refrained to get wrapped up in the commercial offerings and stuck to our main agenda, that is to stay in the hotel and enjoy the amenities for which we were paying.

Enjoyed scrumptious homemade style lunch and dinner at the main FoodSense restaurant. The managers at the restaurant were friendly and Mr. Yoonas Ek took good care of the dietary needs of all 7 people in my group including making sure they catered lactose free items for one of the guest. It was like coming home after a long time and everybody is catering to your every small need. 🍽

Frankly I never had the urge to get out of the hotel as it reminded me of my country USA and its ambiance and setting was just intoxicating. Unfortunately we had only planned 2 nights at this location, and the first thing everybody in my group asked me after arriving is, can we extend our stay over here. But alas our plane tickets to Mumbai were already booked. But we did extend every moment that we could at the resort and stayed in the pool until we absolutely had to leave.

During checkout the owner of the hotel was gracious to meet with us and she thanked us for staying at the resort and we thanked her for having set up such a wonderful place for Tourist and Honeymooners to unwind and enjoy their vacations. 👍

We have only good memories and 800+ pictures that we brought back with us from the Panoramic Retreat hotel resort with a wish that we can return to it another time during our next visit to Kerala.

A few points of suggestion I wanted to put to the management;

- Please have the restaurant staff who are interns under training put their names on the tag along with designation "Trainee", Not just a nameless generic tag of "Trainee", Because everybody deserves an identity and customer needs to remember who helped them so as to pass on the message of thanks.

- The room electrical system is super complicated and if a computer professional of 30 years has a problem trying to figure it out, then I am worried how all the layman grandmas will be doing . Suggest that you provide a review for the system during check-in for those coming for the first time so they will be knowledgeable of the unique system how the electric lights work in the rooms.
