Why don't both countries agree to a ZERO-TO-ZERO tariff or a 15%-TO-15% tariff???
There are important impacts from Tariffs;
• The citizens are paying for tariffs in increase of product costs.
• Tariffs are FREE Financing to the governments.
• The demand for products with higher tariff will become less desirable and take a hit.
• This will hurt the company that needs the revenue from selling their products overseas.

India doesn't want to admit their tariffs on USA are unequal. India also does not admit that it were the ventures from the USA that heralded it out of its third world status while countries like China, Russia and Iran benefited from keeping them in that suppressed status.
News reporters like Palki Sharma and Barkha Duty cannot stick to the subject matter and actually spend more time trying to create hatred towards Trump while sidelining the actual issues between India then USA. And then they try to hide India's clandestine business relationship with communist and dictatorial countries who are actually rogues creating havoc in the world.
So to look at it pragmatically there needs to be a spreadsheet table that shows what are the tariffs on US products that India levies, and then what are the tariffs on India products that the USA levies. That will actually solve the problem and equalize the differences with focused discussions.
However India knows the differences are very unequally loaded in their favor and hence they find the need to talk about all these frivolous unnecessary things to give themselves some importance on this matter that they are claiming.
