Dear Town of Apex council and Planning board members,

Is Infrastructure Growth and Rapid Development Overloading Our Resources And The Environment?

My opinion has formed by watching the uncontrolled growth in Apex and surrounding towns. Apex Town council and it's citizens recently voted against a data center for reasons of water, electric, traffic and shortage of such resources.

However at the same time the growth of high density accommodations such as huge condominium complex, townhouse and single family homes continues uncontrolled at the cost of Holocaust of the tree. They are the most important single resource that creates oxygen free of charge which sustaines all life on Earth.

While growth remains the top priority item to allow our towns to succeed, there needs to be accountability on how much destruction of environment humans are doing to achieve this rapidly. We  need to grow responsibly, not rapidly to support the insatiable urgency of profiteering by large housing corporations.

When I moved to  North Carolina I had a choice to live anywhere in the triangle, but I chose Apex for it's down to earth simplicity and the better choices of housing that was much more controlled and accessible, unlike other choices in other popular neighboring cities like Cary where high volume housing and golf courses were the norm. While working in the Research Triangle Park I learned that it was named as such because they were allowed to only develop 30% of the forest and leave the other 70% alone so that they can sustain a healthy balance between environment and the needed infrastructure development. Not sure if that rule has also been broken in the Durham RTP region. It took about 10 plus years for Apex to become the most favorite small town in USA and this surged the rest of the growth that we are seeing today.

Everytime a new project is proposed to any town, there needs to be a study to manage grown in tandem with the resources like roads, water, electricity and environmental impact to make sure there are enough resources to handle the loads that are being put on the systems needed to sustain the project in the long run.

Hoping good intentions and decision making will prevail as we forge forward to rapidly develop the remaining available land in our neighborhood. It's not a race and we are can accomplish all growth plans in due time with the right choices that makes us all proud Apex citizens, me myself for 26 years now. ❤️🌻

Thank you for your time and consideration to these important concerns which impact our lives and the future of our families. 🙏
