HOW MUCH PERCENT HINDU IS THE INDIAN JEW?
*HOW MUCH PERCENT HINDU IS THE INDIAN JEW?"
I have written about such similar topics in past instances to challenged the resolve of the true Indian Jews about their Jewishness. Such issues usually crop up during major festival that are celebrated in India throughout the year. I notice many pictures and posts about how Indian Jews themselves are celebrating the festivals of other religions as if they were their own. Great show of solidarity with the Indians, no doubt about that. 👍🌻
I have to admit I am a staunch Hindu supporter because of their great tolerance, because of which Jews could survive and sustain life with no persecution in India under the protection of their kings and leaders. Jews were always peaceful and hard-working people and this was well recognized by the Indian Hindus who were the majority. Because of this, Indian Jews were able to succeed and reach whatever heights their abilities allowed them to grow and prosper.
However the Indian Jews, to show their loyalty to the Hindus are starting to forget that they are unintentionally beginning to assimilate into the culture of other religions while forgetting their own traditions. I see Indian Jew celebrating more non-jewish festivals in their homes, rather than the Jewish ones. This could be one of the reasons why Indian Jews get challenged at every checkpoint where the question comes up, if Indians has are truly Jewish or not. I think this question has already been answered in many ways when the generic markers of Indian Jews matched with that of Aaron, the brother of Moses.
It is always a good thing that Indian Jews look forward to celebrate all festival with their friends of all religions, because they are unbiased and that is a good thing. However they often are forgetting their moral obligation to Judaism and they start celebrating the festival themselves in their homes. This I have never seen happen as a reverse, for example other religions celebrating Jewish festivals in their homes. And I don't expect that to be the case.
However then the question is raised, how much percent of Hinduism (or of any other religion) is ingrained into the Indian Jew. Are Indian Jews forgetting the ten commandments and straying away from the core traditions and beliefs of their ancestors and scriptures.
Are Indian Jews bending and catering to the dominance of the stronger influence of other religions around them. This will only lead to more assimilation and the reduction of the Jewish community, which is already in minority status, and get on the verge of disappearing if such a trend continues.
Many thanks to Israel and all the Indian Jews who immigrated to the holy Land. Now there are more Indian Jews and their descendants who live in Israel and will continue to protect and take forward the tradition of the original Indian Jews. *Aamen* 🙏👍🌻❤️
